Why Read The Dua For Looking In The Mirror?
There are numerous lessons hidden in the Sunnah Dua we read when looking in the mirror.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wanted us to be thankful all the time but not get preoccupied with our worldly lives. Instead, he diverted our focus toward the day of judgment and the afterlife in all matters.
This is why he taught us this Dua.
If you have an attractive appearance and admire yourself when looking in the mirror, this Dua is a reminder that real beauty lies in your character.
As a result, it makes you focus on your shortcomings, recite astaghfar, and imrpove yourself.
But if you don’t like your appearance for any reason, this Dua has more lessons for you.
First of all, when you look in the mirror, this dua reminds you that you’re beautiful the way you are. You don’t need anyone’s appreciation to celebrate your beauty. Because Prophet Muhammad ﷺ says, you’re beautiful.
Secondly, it is a reminder that even if you don’t think you’re attractive, you can increase your beauty by improving your character and adopting the morals Rasoolullah ﷺ has taught all Muslims.
Adopting good manners not only makes you more attractive in the eyes of the people around you but also in Allah’s eyes because He doesn’t look at faces, He only looks at our hearts and what’s inside them.
