Why Is The Second Ramadan Ashra Called Ashra e Maghfirat?

This Ashra of Ramadan is called Ashra e Maghfirat because Rasoolullah ﷺ said in a hadith that the second ten days of Ramadan are full of Allah’s forgiveness.

Again, this doesn’t mean Allah SWT doesn’t forgive people in the other days of Ramadan. But the Prophet said this to set the theme of this period and encourage people to seek Allah’s forgiveness for their sins.

Some scholars say that this period is called the ten days of forgiveness because after the first ashra (the ashra of mercy) Muslims come under the blessings of Allah SWT, as a result of which they are forgiven for all their sins.

What To Do In The Second Ashra Of Ramadan?

Like the first Ashra, the second Ashra of Ramadan is another opportunity to get closer to Allah SWT and gather as many good deeds as possible.

So, indulge in the following activities during this period.

  • Keep the enthusiasm for Ramadan alive.
  • Recite as much Istaghfar as possible.
  • Be regular in your fasts and prayers.
  • Recite the Holy Quran regularly.
  • Ask forgiveness from anyone you’ve hurt or wronged in your life.

May Allah SWT forgive us in this blessed Ashra of Ramadan and make us among those he likes.
