Dua To Read At The Start Of Ramadan
Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah ibn Samit (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ used to teach the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) the following Dua as the mont of Ramadan got closer.
Arabic
اَللّٰهُمَّ سَلِّمْنِيْ لِرَمَضانَ وَسَلِّمْ رَمَضانَ لِيْ وَسَلِّمْهُ لِي مُتَقَبَّلا
Transliteration
Allahumma Sallimnee Li Ramadana Wa Sallim Ramadana Lee, Wa Sallimhu Lee Mutaqabbala
English Translation
Here’s the English translation of the dua to begin Ramadan
O Allah! preserve me for Ramadan, safeguard Ramadan for me and accept it from me.
Urdu/Hindi Translation
Ramadan ko shuru karne ki dua ka urdu/hindi tarjuma ye hai
Aay Allah! Mujhay Ramadan Ke Liye Salamat Rakh, Aur Ramadan Ko Mere Liye Salamat Rakh, Aur Isko Meri Taraf Se Qubool Farma
What Is The Purpose Of Reading This Dua
Ramadan is a great blessing that comes once a year. By teaching us this Dua, Rasoolullah ﷺ wants us to realize the importance of Ramadan and how eager should be to reach it.
He asks Allah SWT to keep us safe for Ramadan, which means healthy and free of any concerns.
Because if we fall sick in Ramadan or get busy with something unexpected, all our Ramadan preparations would go in vain.
This is why its critical that we spend Ramadan peacfully and focused on our goal which is to seek Allah’s pleasure and attain taqwa in this month.
