There’s no life without water. Which is why rain is such a blessing. It not only cleans the atmosphere but also freshens up our moods and makes the environment healthier.
However, not every rain is beneficial.
This is why Allah’s Prophet ﷺ has taught us a beautiful Dua for rain.
Let’s understand its Arabic text and translation.
Dua For Beneficial But Heavy Rain
There are several Duas for rain mentioned in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. However, the following two duas are the most frequently quoted.
Arabic
اللّهُمَّ اَسْقِـنا غَيْـثاً مُغيـثاً مَريئاً مُريـعاً، نافِعـاً غَيْـرَ ضَّارٌ، عاجِـلاً غَـيْرَ آجِلٍ
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا
Transliteration
Allahumma Asqina Ghaeesam Mugheesan Maree’an Muree’an, Naafi’an Ghaeera Zaarr, Aajilan Ghaeera Aajil
Allahumma Sayyiban Naafi’a
English Translation
Here’s the English meaning of the duas for rain.
O Allah, shower upon us abundant rain, beneficial, not harmful, swiftly and not delayed.
O Allah, make it beneficial rain.
Urdu/Hindi Translation of Barish Ke Waqt Ki Dua
Barish ke waqt ki Dua ka urdu/Hindi tarjuma ye hai.
Aay Allah! Hamay Khoob Barish Ata Farma Jo Mufeed Ho, Nuqsanday Na Ho, Jald Ata Farma, Takheer Na Farma

Barish Ki Dua Main Kya Hikmat Hai
Barish ke waqt ki dua Rasoolullah ﷺ ki baqi duao ki tarha bay shumar hikmato se bhari hu hai.
Barish Allah Taala ke nizam ka ek aham hissa hai. Jab ye na ho, to zameen sookh jati hai aur khushk sali se log marne agtay hain.
Lekin jab ye zarurat se ziada ho jae to selab ajata hai aur logo ko nuqsan hota hai.
Is liye, Rasoolullah ﷺ ne intihaee muhtaat alfaz main Allah se barish talab ki aur apni bandagi ka izhar kia ke aay Allah hum barish ke zarurat mand to hain lekin hum kamzor hain. Is liye bas utni barish ata farma jitbni hamare liye nafa denay wali ho.
Should We Also Make Dua While It’s Raining
Yes, we should read these duas both before it starts raining and while it’s raining.
Why? Because when it starts raining, you never know how long it will continue. So, it is important to request Allah SWT to make it beneficial for us.
Secondly, scholars say that making other Duas in the rain is also beneficial because it is one of those occasions when Allah SWT accepts Duas more than usual.
So, while you’re enjoying the rain, make a quick Dua for anything related to this world or the afterlife. Insha Allah you will not be disappointed.
