Shaban Ki Fazilat Aur Roza | Importance Of Fasting In This Month

Every month in the Islamic calendar has significance for one reason or another. However, some months are more important because Rasoolullah ﷺ said so.

Shaban is one of those months.

It falls between Rajab and Ramadan, and people often underestimate its value. But in reality, it is one of the most blessed months of the Islamic calendar.

In this article, we’ll learn about the importance and fazilat of Shaban and how we can benefit from it.

Importance Of The Month Of Shaban In Hadith

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to be very specific about tracking the Shaban moon and its dates because it directly affected Ramadan dates.

It is mentioned in several books of Hadith that Rasoolullah ﷺ did not track any month’s lunar dates as carefully as Shaban.

Rasoolullah ﷺ spent most of his Shaban preparing for Ramadan. He also used to read this famous Dua during this month.

“اَللّٰھُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْ وَشَعْبَانَ وَبَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَانَ”

English Translation: O Allah! Bless us during Shaban and make us reach Ramadan.

According to several Hadith, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to fast frequently in the month of Shaban and performed Nafl prayers.

He ﷺ also described the special importance and fazilat of the 15th night of Shaban, known as Shab e Barat.

Scholars say that Prophet ﷺ described so many virtues of Shaban because he wanted people to be ready for Ramadan.

In short, Shaban is a blessed month just before Ramadan and we should spend as much time as possible in prayer and fasting during this month.

How Many Days Should We Fast In Shaban

According to Hadith, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to fast throughout the month of Shaban.

Here’s a Hadith narrated by Syeda Ayesha (Bukhari)

“He (ﷺ) observed Saum during the whole month of Sha’ban except a few days”

So, scholars say that one should fast as frequently as possible in Shaban. However, to remain fresh for Ramadan, stop fasting in the last week of Shaban.

This would help you enter Ramadan with renewed energy and passion.

Shaban Ke Roze Ki Niyat | Dua For Fasting In This Month

Frequently fasting in Shaban is a proven Sunnah. However, there’s no fixed dua or niyat that you should read before fasting in Shaban.

Instead, making niyat by heart is enough that you are fasting in Shaban.

However, You can read this Dua if you want.

وَ بِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَوَیْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ شَعبانُ المُعَظَّم

English: And I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Shaban

Urdu/Hindi Tarjuma: Aur main Shaban ke mahinay ke kal ke roze ki niyat karta hu.

Iske alawa bhi Roza rakhne ki duain ati hain jo aao niyat ke tor par parh sakte hain.

Shaban Ka Chand Dekh Kar Parhne Ki Dua

Rasoolullah ﷺ Shaban ke mahinay main wohi Dua parha kartay thay jo Rajab ka chand dekh kar parhi jati hai.

“اَللّٰھُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْ وَشَعْبَانَ وَبَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَانَ”

Is dua ka maqsad ye hai ke hum Shaban ka mahina ehtimam ke sath is tarha guzaray ke Rozay rakhay aur nawafil mamool se ziada parhay.

Tahajjud ki pabandi karain, tilawat e quran rozana karain, aur iske alawa Astaghfar aur zikr o azkarr se zaban ko tar rakhain.

Is tarha jab hum Ramadan tak pohnchengay to us mubarak mahinay se mukammal nafa uthanay ke laiq ban jaengay.

Shaban Ki Fazilat Aur Ahmyat

Shaban ki fazilat aur ahmiyat bohat si ahadees main ati hai.

Ummul Mumineed Syeda Ayesha se marwi hai ke Rasoolullah ﷺ Ramadan ke baad sab se ziada Rozay Shaban ke mahinay main rakhtay thay.

Is mahinay ki 15 wee raat Shab e Barat kehlati hai jiski haas fazilat hadith main aee hai. Is raat ibadat aur nawafil ka ehtimam karna chahye aur dua ka bhi.

Iske alawa bhi pura Shaban ka mahina hi is qabil hai ke us main mamool se barh kar nekia ki jae kyu is tarha hum Ramadan ke liye tayyar hotay hain.

Iske sath sath gunaho se bachna bhi bohat zaruri hai kyu ke Agar Shaban main bhi gunah na choray to Ramadan ke maheenay ki barkatain hasil karna bohat mushkil ho jaega.

Allah Taala hum sab ko Shaban, Ramadan, balkay har din aur har lamhay ki qadar ki tofeeq naseeb farmae.
