Ramadan Fast Opening Niyat | Iftar Main Roza Kholne Ki Dua

The meal Muslims eat to open their fast is called Iftar. Every day in Ramadan Muslims fast by eating Suhoor and reading the fasting dua before dawn. Then after spending the whole day without eating, drinking, or having sexual relations with their spouses, Muslims open their fast at sunset, also called the Iftar time.

Roza Kholne Ki Dua With Translation

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has taught us two different duas to read when breaking our fast at the time of iftar.

Here’s the first Dua in Arabic.

اَللَّھُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ

Transliteration

Allahumma Laka Sumtu Wa Ala Rizqika Aftartu

English Translation

O Allah! I fasted only for your sake and I break my fast with your sustenance.

Urdu Translation

Aay Allah! Mene Tere Liye Roza Rakha Aur Tere Diye Huay Rizq Se Iftar Kia

Dua To Read After Breaking Your Fast In Ramadan

Once you open your fast, drink water, and eat something, recite the following dua.

 ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Transliteration

Zahabaz Zama’oo Wab Tallatil Urooqu Wa Sabatal Ajru Insha Allah

English Translation

Thirst has gone, veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed by the will of Allah

Urdu Translation

Piyaas Chali Gaee, Ragain Tar Ho Gaee, Aur Sawab Sabit Ho Gya Insh Allah

How To Read Ramadan Fast-Opening Dua

The time of Iftar starts as soon as the sun sets. Once that happens, say Bismillah and read the first dua of Iftar to open your fast. Then eat and drink from your table.

After you’ve opened your fast, drank some water, and eaten something, read the second dua of iftar mentioned in the previous section.

Is The Iftar Dua Authentic From Hadith?

Yes, these two Duas are narrated by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through strong chains and can be found in Mishkat and Abu Dawud.
