Does fighting break your fast in Islam?

Fighting or arguing with anyone isn’t good for your mental health. This is why Islam encourages us to forgive and ignore minor problems.

Can You Fight or Argue While Fasting In Ramadan?

No, fighting, bickering, arguing or even swearing does not break your fast.

However, it does negatively affect your fast and deprives you of the benefits of fasting.

Why? Because the purpose of fasting is to gain self control. Controlling your anger and avoiding uselness fights is a part of it.

This is why Rasoolullah ﷺ has intrustec us that if someone fights with you, tell them you’re fasting and avoid getting into any altercation.

However, if someone is hell bent on fight ng with you, you’re allowed to defined yourself.

In any case, fighting does not break your fast.
